The Mandate

ElectroSolutions was assigned the mandate to modernize an automated snow-making control system for various ski stations in the province of Quebec.

Among the objectives that were set down, ElectroSolutions, starting from existing equipment from varied sources (America and Europe), had to develop a new modular control system for snow-making operations that also provided personalized interfacing. ElectroSolutions also had to replace obsolete programmable automation controllers and operator interfaces with new-generation equipment.

 

THE IMPLEMENTED SOLUTION

During the time span prior to snow-making, the new automation controllers and operator interfaces were installed, programmed and put into service. A human computer interface was integrated into the control station, enabling remote adjusting to be successfully done.

THE RESULTS

• A modular system that enabled a swift and efficient response to the evolving demand (weather, traffic, increase in skiable area, etc….).
• Better control of the operating parameters and the recording of data to post trendlines or operating reports.
• Reduction in production stoppages (in both numbers and length) and equipment maintenance costs (parts and manpower).
• Optimizing of snow quality.
• Remote diagnostics and support by the ElectroSolutions team to help out the on-site maintenance crews.
